Intriguingly chaotic. Makes me think that darker section of space in the centre of the image might be representative of reality... with the visions and hallucinations of insanity crowding around it from the sides, trying to obscure the viewer from seeing through the madness. Very inventive.

seems to be slightly different than your usual stuff with the blocks of color... Im really loving it! the contrast between the outside and inside is really interesting...
Im feeling inspired by this but alas I have no time to do anything else except admire this!

 Brilliant... It was a mood doodle painting. I've been working through pregnancy creative distraction and had to start with a doodle to externalize my emotions. I'm glad I posted it - sometimes I think these doodle works are just junk - but I was determined to push on through to completing it never mind how it looks in the end. And hurrah... I've just done another painting today. Its drying in my studio. So perhaps it works to force yourself into making...

I think it is true that the hardest part of anything creative is to actually sit down and DO something, hence the term "Artist's Block" and "Writer's Block." I once read a fantasy book about an author who had an interesting way to "cure" the malady: every month he had to write 2,000 words and give them to a friend, and he'd think about these words as if they were paying for his electricity and water bills. Of course the real issue starts when he doesn't turn them in one month and the electricity and water actually STOPS working. :-D

Congrats on your pregnancy by the way, and I wish you the best!

 That sounds like a funny book!

Thanks! :D I've started to feel bub this week so its becoming quite bizarre.

I'm just so relieved to have got through this recent "block", I get so grumpy when I'm not creative. (My poor poor hubby! )

It IS funny, although it is considered a children's/teen book by Diana Wynne Jones called "Archer's Goon." It is one of my favorite books she has written, although I can say that about a LOT of her novels, actually. She's very good. :-D One good thing about her is that many of her books can be appreciated by any age group-- at least as far as I'm concerned. This is why I'm still browsing through teen and children's sections in the bookstore at twenty-four. *blushes*

I know what you mean about grumpiness and blocks. I get that way too and end up holing up with books for hours on end. (I've got a stack just waiting for me. I should clarify that not having any new books ALSO gets me grumpy. :reading:)

Very geometrical..love the window in the background & all the little squares found though out the piece.

It somewhat reminds me of a view through a plane window at night with all the land, hills, lakes & rivers down below softly gleaming with the moons light.

:D Thanks! Its very cool but suddenly makes me panic about not having enough work framed etc or enough decent work, and what to send... eeek panic panic. :giggle: But I'm excited too. It's great to have some one else to pimp my work for me. especially just before taking maternity leave. Fingers crossed it goes well for the future!

I've been so uninspired to paint recently I just started to doodle and used your recent gift image as a starting point for colours and shapes. It was fun. :)
I just got great news last night... I found a gallery to represent me, take some of my work on art fair tours on England. :D :bounce: So delighted. And hopefully it will encourage my inspiration a little!
