It's Traditional Art Day!

For Traditional Art day I've decided to feature three of my favourite traditional artists on dA. One from Russia, one from Brazil and one from Turkey.  They all have a particular uniqueness to their work, individual style and hugh creativity.  But you will also notice that they have in common a joyful use of colour!

I met Cenin, a wonderful Turkish artist, very early on in my deviantArt experience and I have watched her art grow and develop over the last few months. From a tentative begining exploring lines, shapes, colours, depicting images of things from her daily life, she typically explores themes of the self in relation to the world.  Recently her work has concentrated on the self portrait and has become much more finished and colourful.  There is a overall feel of alienation in her work, something that I'm sure many people can identify with in this strange world we find ourselves living in as artists.    She has a truly unique gallery and artistic language and I urge you to visit it.

Hmm, what to say about my favourite Brazilian artist!  Eduardo found my gallery a few months ago and went on a faving spree!  I was online at the time and found the stars falling around me very intriging so I went over to his gallery and was amazed to find an incredibly joyful, whimsical, surreal, funny and colourful artistic experience.  His work mainly centres around the female nude but not in the conventional sense.  His paintings make me want to fly, jump into them and run off into the colourful distance.  Please visit and enjoy his wonderful work.

I met Dmitry only recently and his style immediately jumped out at me as being quite different and special.  There is something quite child-like about his work.  A strong naïve style developed well and humourously with great colour compositions.  His work is quite abstract and surreal, themes he covers are varied and could be anything from alien abduction, myths, strange super natural creatures to pirates and still lifes.  His gallery is fun and quite a treat for the imagination.  Please visit him as he is a lovely Russian artist who deserves more credit for his great work!

What really sticks out in Cenin art is the faces, she seems to focus not only on color but on the surface planes of the faces as if she is trying to immortalize them in both her brain & in history.

Eduardo's paintings are an orgy of color & movement. There is this sensuality in them that is both child-like fantasy & man-like reality mixed into one. I love his depictions of the female big bottoms & balloon-like breast with the bright red nipples as I find them not only comical & exaggerated; but see them as an ode to his love of women's femininity.

Dmitry's art is very aboriginal in Nature. It's like he has gone back in time & illustrated all the old lores & folktales of an era when there was no alphabet. His depictions have this resemblance to artwork of S. American Aztecs combined with Australian Maori's tribes, or from some other ancient tribes. In it's simplicity it is complex & of extreme professional quality.

Amy, I had never seen the work of any of these artists. Thank you so much for sharing.
