Welcome to Amyhooton's golden journal....

Happy Birthday Alice

Its my sisters birthday today. :party: :sing: Happy Birthday sister! :hug: I miss you.

My sister lives in Indonesia on the other side of the world. :( Very far away from me. But in 17 days I'm going to see her! :dance: :excited: So we can spend some quality time in the jungle together and then to the beach for a few days. Sun bathing, swimming, jungle treking, river tubing, watching the Orang Utan's. And playing with my nephew! Who is the cutest wee boy in the world and also is the worlds smallest walker, runner, football dribbler. Age 14 months and he's off like a rocket at the site of flat terrain or a ball!! :giggle:

So some features of all things Indonesian I think is very suitable. Its a fab country with so many cultures crammed into all its different islands. I'm going to Aceh ( were the Tsunami hit the hardest ) for the first time. Its just a little north of where my sister lives. But the culture I hear is quite different and since peace broke out after the Tsunami It has been opened up to the world again. :w00t: So I look forward to seeing Aceh and taking lots of photos.

The stay with your sister & nephew sounds great. It will be a great refresher for you after all the turmoil of this past month & be a great inspiration for you with the children book you are helping Ben with.

When it comes to children books keep the words short (not too wordy) & the pictures colorful & full of expression.

Have you contacted the International airports (or local libraries), sometimes they hang up art pieces & yours is so unique & clearly has a local flair to it that they may be interested in hanging some there fro the travelers/patrons to see.

Thats a really good idea. I thought of the airports before, but I always remember at the airport not when I'm home.

Can't wait for the sunshine holiday I've booked. SO exciting. Its been so long since the sun shone here.

Ben's story sort of took a slight change of tac. He's working on a really great story which is quite mythilogical in content. We looked at the age groups and I think its more suitable for 9+. But we'll see. Its a start. If its not working we can always think again. But it feels great to have started!
