I painted this over the Easter weekend when I was over at my parents house in Argyll, West coast of Scotland. The weather was sunny and stunningly clear until you stepped outside and braced the freezing easterly winds. It even snowed and we're right by the sea. Reflections of daffodils and spring glory.
22nd March 2008. Acrylic ink and gold pen on 30 x 45cm Fabriano Paper.
I love the green colouring in this one, it's very Earthy

Stunning work. Before I read anything I was thinking that all the little yellow areas reminded me of pollen! So nice work! It definitely has that feeling of chilled air and friendly sunlight. That makes no conventional sense lol, but I consider it to be friendly if it's kind of weak, as opposed the sunlight with the sting that burns you as soon as it touches.

Veronica & I are going to get married on top of a mountain..& there will be flutes playing & trombones & garlands of fresh..'erbs, & we will dance! until the sun rises, & our children will form a family band & tour the countryside & you wont be invited!
Ah well, visit Scotland and you will find that type of sun exactly. So friendly that even 10degrees feels warm enough to strip off, if it wasn't for the bloody freezing wind chilling the other side of your body! A scottish tan is possible, you just have to roll the meat over every half an hour so you get all sides done. And As i recently discovered, Australian sun isn't friendly in though so its a difficult concept to understand if you haven't experienced the other version of our sun. One and the same, its amazing the difference when you visit a different latitude!
And Thanks! I'm glad you got the yellow flower reference. hehe
haha, I like rotating in the sun. Not in any way that would actually make a difference, I just like to think I'm being evenly cooked. Yes, I wish to experience the sun in many places It's hard for me to visualise sun in Scotland full stop, lol. *tries to visualise*.. all I can picture is mist

LOL! You probably don't believe me... But its a shame I'm stuck inside working, it looks like a gorgeous spring day to me, blue skies and all! Would you believe...

Spring is such a dynamic season - so much going on. Love it (your work that is).

The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
